Today in Jerusalem there are over 3,000 asylum seekers from Eritrea, Sudan and Ethiopia, including many families with children.

Living without resolved status in Israel, and under the constant threat of deportation, the asylum seeker community faces difficulties in all aspects of everyday life. The Jerusalem African Community Center (JACC) was founded in July 2014 by a group of Israelis and African asylum-seekers, and is the only NGO in Jerusalem working with this population. Our small staff, together with about 100 volunteers, run many  regular programs focused on improving the quality of life of our community members.
